DIFFERENTIATION THROUGH
APPLICATION EXPERTISE

The quality during / after the application of abrasive grains, either for production of grinding wheels, shot blasting, or refractories, is the true indicator of the grain’s quality. Our clients’ feedback is therefore imperative to our R&D. The result: product differentiation.

BFA – BROWN FUSED ALUMINA

GRINDING WHEELS/ABRASIVES

Our patented abrasives production process ensures grains (F-size and P-size), which are particularly suitable for the manufacturing of (ceramic) grinding wheels and sandpaper.

1. The patented production method results in a significantly higher grain density, which leads to an improved service lifetime of grinding wheels.

2. Our bonded abrasives (F-size) have also proven to result in significantly reduced defect ratios during the manufacturing process of grinding wheels compared to regular quality BFA, due to high and consistent bulk density levels.

3. In addition, our F-size abrasives have been tested to increase cutting efficiency of cutting wheels by 20-30%.

Sandblasting

Sandblasting quality is determined by the resulting:

1. Surface roughness

2. Speed of achieved roughness

3. Product consumption (product lifetime)

In cooperation with our clients we always try to maximize the final results, by analyzing the application of our BFA during the blasting process, the blasting equipment used, and the type of surface / material, we determine the best type of BFA suitable for our customers.

In certain cases we even develop special high-grade BFA for our customers (special bulk densities, or chemical compositions), and provide expertise on how blasting equipment can be customized to achieve the best blasting results.

REFRACTORY

As a result of years of experience in the refractory industry, we consider high-grade refractories to posses the following elements:

1. Inherent refractoriness combined with excellent corrosion and erosion resistance due to massive crystal size giving extended life in service. (Kg of refractory consumed per 1000 tons of iron/steel produced)

  • Longer life in service means much more cost-effective product, less maintenance, or replacement required.
  • Longer life in service means fewer inclusions in the final product.

2. Consistency in manufacturing means no variation in performance compared with natural materials.

3. Size distribution made to customers requirements, ease of substitution in existing formulations.

GARNET

ABRASIVE/WATERJET CUTTING

One Mineral’s Garnet particles in combination with a high-pressurized (up to 60.000 PSI / 4000 bar) very thin stream of water results in a cutting / machining operation. The stream exits the cutting head at a velocity of up to 1000 m/s.

Using our garnet it is possible to cut through thick layers of aluminum or titanium. It may take time but cutting steel as thick as 23 cm or aluminum with a thickness of 30 cm can be waterjet machined.
